Speech from the Head of Executive Committee of JIBB 2018
The World Craft Council (WCC) has established Yogyakarta as the World Batik City on October 18, 2014, in Dongyang City, China. Yogyakarta has considered meeting all 7 criteria, well (historical value, originality, regeneration, economic value, environmentally friendly, has an international reputation and has widespread). Achievement to have the predicate is to be grateful for, as well as to create a responsibility for Yogyakarta to always maintain and continuously develop the 7 criteria above, to show the people of Indonesia also to the world or public that this predicate is 'worth to obtain'. In order to respond to the position of Yogyakarta as the World Batik City, Jogja International Batik Biennale (JIBB) 2018 will be held again for the second time which will take place on October 2-6, 2018 in Yogyakarta. JIBB is also intended to make a real contribution to the development and preservation of the local and national Batik.
Let us together succeeding JIBB 2018 and empowering Batik Nusantara.
